It is Human nature to want to flaunt and be commended. Only, when colleges do this – they are termed as ‘Cultural festivals’. But when a college in the Top 10 lists of practically EVERY survey conducted has a cul-fest, the world decides to stop and take notice.
Festember – short for "a Fest to Remember” is the annual cul-fest of The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli. From its humble origins since its inception in 1975, Festember has travelled a long way up the highway of recognition. It truly is an event that has stood the test of time. What had started out as a zero-budget event has now ballooned into an event worth more than 5 million rupees.
Previous editions of Festember have recorded a footfall of almost 10,000 students from over 500 colleges across India. With a rich history of over 30 years, Festember has made its mark as one of the best platforms for the youth to showcase their talent. Over the years, a star studded cast of celebrities and dignitaries have graced the festival, adding to the sheen of Festember.
This year, Festember is all set to go international, opening its doors to students from all over the world; inviting the best minds – not just in our country- but across the globe to prove their mettle. This year’s Festember surely will be a treat to the mind and soul as it goes the "retro” way.
Be ready to Rewind, Replay and Relive as Festember takes you to the golden era. The past becomes the present and the future gets redefined – in this year’s rendition of the fest. In fact the college has taken it one more step further. A retro themed website, posters, theme song and re-imagined events await this year’s participants.
Drop in at NIT Trichy from 27-30th September and register your presence at one of the largest cultural festivals of India. The exclusivity and uniqueness of Festember ensure that it will be the most happening and talked of event this year.

The western semi-pro event, GIG-A-Hertz, conducted at NIT-Trichy is a prominent event in the Indian music circuit. Drawing in teams from all around south India with its lucrative prizes and intense competition, this has become one of the stellar events of Festember. This event also provides a stage for all the fans of the Metal genre to enthrall the audience with some action packed music.

Theatrix ’12, a battleground for dramatic troupes from colleges all over the country. Encompassing and encouraging all genres from mystery and drama to satire, farce and comedy, Theatrix ’12, provides drama enthusiasts the ultimate stage to entertain, captivate and thrill audiences with their theatrical talents whilst fighting it out against their worthy counterparts from other colleges.

Get ready to astound the audience with the smooth flow of your dominoes, to end up with a spectacular, colourful image.

Wall painting:
Adorn the walls of NITT and pitch in your part for this Festember by painting in accordance with the ‘Retro’ theme!

Shadow art:
Add some more artistry to your model by showing us what its shadow can depict! Use the myriad of materials we’ll provide you with, (includes thermocol, paper cups, newspapers, wires, thread) and let the shadows do the talking!

Apart from these, workshops on Beat Boxing, Skate Boarding, Ultimate Frisbee, Popping and LA Style Salsa are major attractions at Festember’12.
